Georgia Grandfather Shot Dead While Walking Dog With His Wife – Crime Online

A Georgia man was shot to death Sunday afternoon while walking his dog at a Gainesville park.

Todd Alexander Stalcup, 52, is accused of killing Terry Wayne Loden, 70, and his dog when the two men’s dogs began fighting, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. The two men did not know one another.

The sheriff’s office said the dogs fought, and Stalcup shot Loden’s dog and then Loden. He initially remained on the scene but left before police arrived. Deputies took him into custody about 15 minutes later.

Loden’s wife, Cheryle Loden, was with her husband at the time.

“When he fell, I just said, ‘I gotta call 911. I gotta call 911,’” she told WANF. “And [the shooter] just said, ‘Yeah, you do that.’”

She said her husband was immediately pulling their dog, Jesse, back when the dogs started fighting.

“He was on top of her pulling her off and about that time, the man just shot my dog, and Terry stood up and said, ‘Man what are you doing?’ And he just shot him,” Cheryle Loden said.

Terry Loden had been on the phone with his granddaughter when he was shot.

Stalcup has been charged with malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
