Georgia Murder Suspect Captured After Allegedly Shooting Girlfriend in Head, Fleeing State – Crime Online

A man wanted for murder in Georgia was apprehended in Alabama after a two-day, two-state crime spree.

Mike Thomas, 28, was taken into custody after a multi-agency chase that stretched from Georgia to Alabama and shut down part of I-65, according to FOX 10. Thomas allegedly shot his girlfriend in the head and jaw at an apartment complex on Washington Road in East Point on Sunday.

Al.com reported that neighbors saw the victim in desperate need of help.

“I just saw her running across the parking lot, holding her neck, and I saw blood coming from her face,” one witness said.

After the alleged assault, Thomas fled across state lines into Alabama. Law enforcement was alerted, and Thomas was later spotted in Conecuh County after the Evergreen Police Department attempted a traffic stop, Fox 10 reported.

During the pursuit, Thomas allegedly shot at police. Officers deployed spike strips on I-65 in Baldwin County, disabling his vehicle.

Thomas then attempted to carjack the driver of an 18-wheeler. The driver’s husband shot Thomas in the leg. He fled into nearby woods but was captured six hours later.

The woman Thomas allegedly shot survived the attack.

Thomas faces charges in Georgia, including aggravated assault and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. In Alabama, he faces additional charges, including robbery and assault.

His bond was set at $300,000.
