Lisa Barlow kicked off a very public argument with Bronwyn Newport during Season 6, Episode 2 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City when she told her simply: “You’re dismissed.” Although the flying insults that followed even shocked their fellow castmates, Meredith Marks exclusively told The Daily Dish there was more to the story, including a lot of buildup to that moment
“I think there’s a lot of tension and discord between them. I think there’s a lot of hostility and anger,” Meredith shared in a September interview.
Both Meredith and Angie Katsanevas pointed to one moment from the Season 5 reunion as the spark that ignited the flame: when Lisa accused Bronwyn and her husband, Todd Bradley, of not actually purchasing a $4 million diamond necklace Bronwyn wore to her anniversary party.
“I think that Bronwyn didn’t like that Lisa called her out about the necklace last year, and rather than talking things through with her, she retaliated,” Meredith told The Daily Dish. “I don’t think that’s any shock to anybody, and it’s just not the best path to go down.”
During the first cast trip of RHOSLC Season 6, Bronwyn mentioned Lisa and “all of her lawsuits,” and insinuated that’s why Lisa chose not to attend the getaway (however, Lisa said the real reason was work-related). When word got back to Lisa, it led to the showdown with Bronwyn at socialite Amy Steele’s home.
“In real time, when Bronwyn brought [the lawsuits] up, it did feel a bit retaliatory to Lisa, you know, bringing up her jewelry not being her jewelry at the reunion,” Angie told The Daily Dish.
Angie admitted while she herself “would’ve never brought it up,” she conceded that “obviously there are some feelings there” for Bronwyn. She also confessed she understood Bronwyn’s reasoning.
She added, “Bronwyn bringing this all out, there’s a part of me that understands why she felt like she wanted to say, ‘Look, you said this about me, but yet you’re over here with your own issues, bringing up my finances.’ You can see both sides.”
But Angie also felt Lisa was being hypocritical during her attacks on Bronwyn.
“When Lisa brought [the necklace] up, I just felt, ‘Wow, having these texts on your phone in a back and forth conversation, when you have lawsuits that have been ongoing for so long, that none of us were even aware of, and we had to read about it in the press, versus hearing from the horse’s mouth?” she questioned.
But Meredith didn’t approve of the way it all played out.
“I mean, we’re all human. We all make mistakes and learn from it,” she told The Daily Dish. “I hope [Bronwyn] learned from it, because it was not a good idea and it was not a nice thing to do.”

Although Lisa initially targeted her anger at Angie during the Sept. 23 episode, Bronwyn corrected Lisa that she was the one who actually brought up the details of Lisa’s lawsuits on the group’s RV camping trip.
“I have zero interest in talking to you,” Lisa responded, and added it was because Bronwyn is “dishonest.”
Bronwyn questioned, “Because I said things about you that should make people have a question and a pause about what’s going on?”
Although Lisa went on to insinuate that Bronwyn has clothes because of her husband, Bronwyn retorted, “At least it’s my husband who pays for my clothes. Who’s paying your Amex, Lisa?”
Lisa responded her own husband, John Barlow, pays for her credit cards, and that the allegation of another man paying for her Amex was a “lie.”
“You can make fun of me as much as you want, it’s not going to clear up those lawsuits, Lisa,” Bronwyn argued. “Cash will clear up those lawsuits, not putting your finger in my face. You can yell as much as you want, Lisa.”

The public fight ended with Lisa calling Bronwyn “disgusting,” adding that Bronwyn’s accusations were “such a joke.”
Lisa Barlow hints at marital issues with John during RHOSLC Season 6
The RHOSLC Season 6 trailer hints that Lisa will weather not only tension with ‘Wives like Bronwyn this season, but tension in her own home with her husband.
“I feel like we’re on different pages,” Lisa confides in John during the trailer.

The trailer also showed Lisa tearing up during a one-on-one sitdown with a psychic that included a reading about her marriage.
“Why do you feel like you’re just rebuilding trust?” the psychic asked after pulling out a card that supposedly represented John.
“I don’t know,” Lisa replied as she put on her sunglasses to hide her tears.
