Gia Giudice Explains Why She’s Hesitant to Move to NYC (VIDEO)

How to Watch

Watch Next Gen NYC on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock.

Gia Giudice is opening up about the possibility of officially become a New York City resident.

Gia grew up in front of the cameras on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but now that the Rutgers grad is considering the next phase of her life, she’s not so sure it will include joining her friends in the Big Apple.

In the above preview clip of Next Gen NYC Episode 3 (airing June 17), Gia tells mom Teresa Giudice about the party she’s planning to host at their lavish New Jersey home. And with digs like that — the estate includes a pool, lush gardens, and a pizza oven — would she ever want to leave?

“I’m for sure gonna move out,” Gia confirms in her interview. “But I don’t think I ever want to move into the city.”

As for why NYC isn’t quite for her? Well, that’s a little complicated.

“It’s beautiful from an aerial view,” she admits, “[And] beautiful when you take photos.”

But for Gia, that’s where the positives stop and start. “It doesn’t smell nice,” she states. “It’s literally just gross.”

And if that weren’t enough, “There’s taxes in the city on literally everything,” she complains. “No taxes in New Jersey!” (A quick note onscreen clarifies that New Jersey has the second-highest average property taxes in the country.)

So, while Gia is happy to hang out with her besties in NYC, she’d clearly rather strike out on her own on the other side of the bridge and tunnel.

Gia Giudice reveals a change of heart about moving to NYC

Although Gia certainly has her hesitations about moving to the Big Apple, it seems she recently has developed more interest in living there. In a June interview with Todayshe explained that frequently commuting to Manhattan for work has been “super exhausting.”

“It’s a lot. My schedule has only picked up since Next Gen NYC, which is funny, because it picked up the summer we were filming Next Gen, and no one knew that we were filming it,” she recently told Today. “It’s just my career kind of started picking up, and my brand started growing, and I am in the city at least four times a week, so it’s a lot of back and forth from Jersey.”

So now, as she looks for a new home, she confirmed, “I’m either going to do Manhattan or Jersey City. I’m gonna figure it out.”
