Gia Giudice Responds to Bridge and Tunnel Label

Gia Giudice admits her comments about the Big Apple were a bit “exaggerated.”

How to Watch

Watch Next Gen NYC on Bravo Tuesdays at 9/8c and next day on Peacock.

The Real Housewives of New Jersey daughter made headlines last month after expressing her aversion to living in the city. She made the comments in Next Gen NYC Season 1, Episode 3, when she confirmed her plans to eventually move out of her family’s Montville mansion.

“I’m for sure gonna move out,” Gia said in an episode interview. “But I don’t think I ever want to move into the city.”

Gia Giudice clarifies her comments about living in NYC

Gia revisited the topic during her July 8 appearance on The Viall Files podcast, when host Nick Viall asked if she intended to ever move to NYC or planned to “always bridge and tunnel it?” (Bridge and tunnel is a term for non-Manhattan residents who must use the passages to enter the city.)

“Yeah, we are,” Gia told Nick, suggesting she planned to move to the Big Apple someday.” I’m literally in the city four times a week for work, whether it’s filming my podcast, Amazon Lives, events in New York.”

Gia then emphasized her strong work ethic, pointing out that the commute between Jersey and NYC was far from easy.

“I’m not even trying to say this about myself, but I’m a hustler,” she continued. “I work really, really hard, and they kind of exaggerated that whole thing that the city’s such a hassle for. Yeah, OK, traffic’s annoying. It gets a little, you know, exhausting going back and forth and commuting back and forth into the city, but I do it, I work my ass off.”

Gia clearly had a change of heart, as she previously said she couldn’t envision herself living in NYC. She explained her position in the aforementioned Next Gen NYC Episode 3, saying the area was nice to look at (from certain angles) but wasn’t pleasant to her nose.

“It’s beautiful from an aerial view, beautiful when you take photos, but it doesn’t smell nice,” she declared. “It’s literally just gross.”

Gia touched on her moving plans in a recent interview with Today, saying she wanted to get a home that was much closer to the city. She pointed out that her career requires her to spend a lot of time in NYC, so much so that she feels it’s necessary to make a move before the end of the summer.

“I think in August, I’m really going to start looking at apartments and moving into something in September,” she continued. “I’m either going to do Manhattan or Jersey City. I’m gonna figure it out.”
