“I recently bought this new house, because I just wanted a house on Sullivan’s Island, which is one of my favorite places in the world,” he shared. The move to the barrier island also puts him closer to Charleston.

“It’s bigger,” he added of the new 5,000 square foot home. “It’s like historical. Four bedrooms. Four baths. And I don’t know what to put in it.”

Pressure from his family was a large part of his decision to move. “My parents were a big factor in me getting the house,” he shared in his confessional. “My brother bought a big house with his two kids and wife. My sister, same thing. So for them, the normal trajectory of a guy’s life…I’m 10 years behind, maybe 15.”

How Shep Rose got home decorating help from Southern Charm’s Rodrigo Reyes

Shep got some assistance from Rodrigo Reyes in decorating his new pad. During the Dec. 3 episode, Rodrigo joined Shep at his parents’ storage unit to sort through old furniture and pick pieces out for Shep’s new home.

“Shep’s parents are probably thinking, like at this point in his life, he’s gonna have a wife and kids and this big house,” Rodrigo said in his confessional interview. “Instead, he brings his gay interior designer to come rifling through his parents’ belongings that they don’t want anymore.”

As Shep and Rodrigo examined dressers, tables, and even portraits of a young Shep, Rodrigo marked items to use in the home with blue tape.

“Most of this is treasure. Just put a little tape on this,” Rodrigo said. “We’ll take that. We’ll take that. We’ll take that. Perfect.”

But Shep was hesitant, admitting, “I don’t know what Rod’s design sense is quite yet.”

However, they did agree on one thing: a furniture upgrade was needed.

“It’s time to get a little bit nicer stuff because when you do that, when you invest in a home, investing in nice furniture, all this stuff, it incentivizes you to be a grown-up and to treat things better and be more mindful,” Shep said in a November interview with Realtor.com

Shep Rose reveals what Craig Conover said about his new Sullivan’s Island home

Shep told Realtor.com that he believed it was “time to upgrade” to the Sullivan’s Island home, and shared more about its history.

“It’s a historic house. It was the old schoolhouse on Sullivan’s Island in the 1920s and ’30s, so someone picked it up in the ’80s and moved it across the street from beach access,” he told the outlet. “Thank goodness, because I love the beach.”

He admitted that the house wasn’t his first choice, but after he was outbid on another home, this one landed in his lap.

“You know how things always work out? My mom said when I sent her the pictures and videos of walking through [this] house, she’s like, ‘That’s you. That’s where you should be,’” Shep said. “It’s very laid-back, sort of old-school beachy, not pretentious. I love it.”

Craig Conover was also on board with the move after seeing the home. “Craig was like, ‘This is what you want. This is exactly what you wanted. You wanted to live on the beach, and you wanted to have, you know, a nice home,’” Shep said. “I was like, ‘Well, I kind of was doing that.’ He’s like, ‘Yeah, but this is better.’ And he’s right. It is better.”

Did Shep Rose sell his Isle of Palms bachelor pad?

Southern Charm fans watched Shep move from his downtown Charleston bachelor pad into his Isle of Palms beach house back in 2017 after he finished some renovations. He gave a tour of the home to BravoTV.com, showing off his open-concept kitchen, and his spacious back deck and outdoor space.

Although he’s moving to Sullivan’s Island, Shep hasn’t let go of his other beach house just yet. He told Realtor.com he turned what he now calls the “Shep Shack” into a short-term rental property. He’s also living in his old house off-and-on now while his new home is renovated.

“It’s sort of good news, bad news,” he told the outlet. “The bad news part—other than having to break everything down and get it out of here—I’m going to be staying at my Isle of Palms house, basically taking rental income out of my own pocket.”

ICYMI, Shep revealed more on his behind-the-scenes bond with Andy Cohen, including their text exchanges.
