Granddad Writes in Journal About Sexually Abusing 4 Young Grandchildren – Crime Online

A Utah man has been criminally charged with sexually abusing his four grandchildren following months of investigation.

In January of this year, the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) got a report about the 74-year-old Saratoga Springs man sexually abusing his four grandchildren when they were between the ages of four and six. The report also detailed how the man was aroused and inappropriate with his daughter, who has Down syndrome, according to KTVX.

In addition to Child Services’ probe, local police were investigating allegations that the man told his son and daughter-in-law about sexually abusing his grandchildren. He reportedly confessed to family that he was attracted to females of all ages and that he had a lengthy history of abuse.

“In my weakness, he told me there is no harm in a little of this and a little of that. Once the dam I built was breached, the breach grew little by little … I’m now facing 15 years to life in prison,” the suspect wrote in a text message after relatives confronted him about the abuse, according to KTVX.

Police who executed a search warrant reviewed the man’s phone and a journal, which reportedly provided more information about his criminal acts.

In the journal, the man allegedly wrote about touching little girls a decade earlier — recounting how he touched his nieces and other little girls as he sat on his lap. He also wrote that he would expose his genitals while they were on his lap, KTVX reported.

According to the news outlet, the man also recalled being a student at Brigham Young University when he had a child touch his genitals.

Most recently, the man allegedly wrote about whether he would let his disabled daughter speak with Child Services about the abuse she suffered at his hands.

The man, who was not identified to protect the victims’ identities, is not in custody. However, KTVX reported that a no-bail warrant was issued for his arrest.
