Gypsy Rose Blanchard To Be Released From Prison Next Week – Crime Online

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who had her boyfriend murder her abusive mother in 2015, will be released from a Missouri prison next week after being granted parole.

Blanchard will be released from the Chillicothe Correctional Center on December 28, after serving nearly 85 percent of a 10-year sentence for second-degree murder. The Springfield News Leader reported that Blanchard’s book — “Released: Conversations on the Eve of Freedom” — is expected to come out on January 9.

Blanchard admitted to having her boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, go to her family’s home in Springfield to kill her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard. They fled to Wisconsin after the slaying.

While Godejohn was sentenced in 2018 to life without parole, prosecutors considered the abuse Gypsy Rose Blanchard suffered at her mother’s hands and sought a lighter sentence. Dee Dee Blanchard is believed to have suffered from Munchausen by proxy — which entailed forcing her daughter to use a wheelchair and subjecting her to unnecessary medical treatments.

Before the slaying, Gypsy Rose Blanchard’s mother allegedly isolated her and tied her to a bed to stop her from escaping.

Earlier this month, Godejohn’s new lawyer appealed his first-degree murder conviction, claiming his client had an ineffective counsel. He accused Godejohn’s trial lawyers of failing to present evidence from a qualified neuropsychologist specializing in Autism Spectrum Disorder. Godejohn’s new lawyer said this evidence shows Godejohn had a diminished capacity and was unable to discern fantasy from reality, according to the Springfield News Leader.

Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who is married, spent seven years behind bars. She told TMZ that she and her husband have tickets to attend the December 31 Kansas City Chiefs game — where she hopes to meet Taylor Swift.
