Harry Kane ‘negotiating PSG transfer’ as Tottenham at risk of losing star man

Harry Kane ‘negotiating PSG transfer’ as Tottenham at risk of losing star man’ Tottenham striker Harry Kane is discussing a potential move to Paris Saint-Germain after the French giants opened talks with his representatives earlier this week, according to reports. Kane is about to enter into the final year of his contract in north London and has been widely tipped to seek a new challenge away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium ahead of next season.

Tottenham are thought to be desperate to avoid selling Kane in spite of his contract situation, although it seems that Daniel Levy’s reluctance to sanction a move has not stopped PSG from trying their luck this summer. They have approached Kane’s entourage over the last few days to discuss personal terms after identifying him as a target over the weekend, according to Relevo.

It is claimed that negotiations are underway between PSG and Kane but there is ‘nothing concrete’ agreed as of yet with Tottenham, who will retain the final say in whether or not the England skipper leaves the club this summer. There are said to be other irons in the fire at the Parc des Princes, though, with Victor Osimhen and Randal Kolo Muani reportedly among their other attacking targets.

PSG could well be eyeing Kane as a potential replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who recently confirmed that he would not be signing a new contract to extend his stay at the club beyond the summer of 2024. Real Madrid are known to be long-term admirers of the Frenchman and have been tipped to reignite their interest in the near future, with PSG reportedly willing to sell but only for the right price.

It seems unlikely that PSG’s efforts to land Kane will be successful unless they are prepared to overpay in exchange for his signature, with Tottenham widely expected to resist any offers to cash in over the coming weeks. They would seemingly prefer to keep the 29-year-old on their books for another season, after which he will be able to leave on a free transfer if he decides against extending his current deal.

The likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid have also been credited with a desire to land Kane, who tried to leave Tottenham in 2021 but was blocked from joining Manchester City after at least two nine-figure bids were rejected. It remains to be seen where he will be playing his football when the new Premier League season gets underway, although it would not be a surprise to see him stay at Tottenham as a result of their unshakeable desire to avoid letting him leave.

However, former Spurs midfielder Jamie O’Hara recently insisted that Kane will be showing a lack of ambition if he fails to secure a move elsewhere this summer, with the forward yet to win a single major trophy despite being widely recognised as one of England’s greatest ever strikers.

O’Hara told talkSPORT: “I feel like he’s got to leave, why would he stay? The guy wants to win something, the guy deserves to win trophies. I just don’t see that changing next season. If he doesn’t leave, he lacks ambition doesn’t he?

“Let’s be honest, if he doesn’t leave and a club does come in for him and Spurs go: ‘You know what, we will probably look at having to sell you’, and he doesn’t go to let’s say Manchester United, then I think he lacks ambition.”
