Brielle Biermann admits she knew her parents were experiencing marital issues, but she never anticipated their divorce.
“I didn’t know anything,” she said in the September 4 episode of Reginae Carter’s Heir Time series. “Were there a couple of signs? Maybe, but not enough for a divorce. It really came out of nowhere.”
Brielle’s comments came more than two years after her mom, Kim Zolciak, and father, Kroy Biermann, confirmed their split. The former couple were introduced in 2010 while Kim was filming The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 3. They tied the knot in November 2011, several months after welcoming their first child together, a now-14-year-old son, Kroy Jagger “KJ” Biermann. Kim and Kroy also share a 13-year-old boy, Kash, and 11-year-old twins, Kane and Kaia. In 2013, Kroy legally adopted Brielle and her little sister, Ariana Biermann.

Brielle Biermann learned about her parents’ divorce in a Walmart parking lot
Brielle said she felt very protective of her siblings and was saddened by how her parents’ divorce had affected them.
“Unfortunately, I feel like they’re kind of going through it with me,” the Don’t Be Tardy alum explained. “For example, I didn’t know Kim and Kroy were getting a divorce until I read it on TMZ. And I didn’t know we had no money. Things like that. I was like, ‘What is going on?’ So they’re finding out sh-t online [at] the same time I am. I just wish that not everything was aired publicly for [her siblings] to see it.”
Brielle then recalled the exact moment she learned about her parents’ divorce filing.
“Not a lot of people know this, but I read the article in a Walmart parking lot,” she recalled. “And my mom pulled up next to me, and she rolls down the window, and I’m like, ‘What the f-ck is this?’ And she just starts crying. She’s like, ‘I didn’t know how to tell you.’”
Brielle said she “was hit with a lot of harsh realities” after her parents’ divorce filing, particularly when it came to their financial issues.
“I really feel for my mom,” she said. “It’s been really, really difficult for her and Kroy, but I really don’t know how she’s standing, some days. Sometimes I look at her and I’m like, ‘You really are superwoman.’ And I know everybody says that about their mom, but if you only knew.”

Brielle shed more light on her relationship with Kroy on Instagram last week, when she posted a series of throwback photos for his milestone birthday.
“40 years old time is flying by,” she captioned a snap of her and her dad.

Brielle’s little sister Ariana has been pretty open about her parents’ contentious split and its effect on her siblings. She tackled the subject during her June 29 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, saying her relationship with Kroy “goes in waves.”
“It depends on what motion he’s filing throughout this insane divorce this week,” the Next Gen NYC cast member said. “He will always be my dad, no matter what. I think that it’s a tough situation right now, because I think a lot of these things are just coming from anger, and nothing else.”
Brielle made similar comments during her sitdown with Reginae, admitting her relationship with Kroy has also fluctuated since the divorce was initiated.
“I’d say it’s here and there,” she confessed. “Ariana said it really well on Watch What Happens Live. She said it depends on what divorce filing he’s filing that day. Because it’s, like, every other day there’s something new.”
She continued: “And it’s just difficult because my mom’s my mom, and she will always be my mom. I love Kroy, and Kroy will always be my dad. I just don’t think that I’m seeing eye-to-eye with him on a lot of things right now. So I would say that our relationship is not frayed, it’s just not what it once was. We’re still decently close.”
