A Florida man is accused of stalking his ex-wife for years by standing outside her home with binoculars and following her to a gas station, bragging that he can “always find” her vehicle.
Michael J. Deardeuff, 59, is facing a charge of aggravated stalking. In a probable cause arrest affidavit first obtained by local ABC affiliate WPLG and reviewed by Law&Crime, the woman said she had been married to Deardeuff for 15 years but got divorced. She reported several instances of stalking and threatening behavior by her ex-husband dating back more than three years, the affidavit stated.
On Dec. 11, 2022, Deardeuff allegedly threatened to kill her, saying “If I can”t have you no one will, and I’ll kill you and your new boyfriend.” In June 2025, Deardeuff began following her as she drove. When she pulled into a gas station he walked up to her and said “I followed you last week,” according to the affidavit. She reportedly took a video of the incident which she later turned over to police.
The victim reported to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office that Deardeuff stood outside her home holding a pair of binoculars. The next day, he was allegedly standing outside her gated community.
Then on Jan. 29, the victim accused Deardeuff of coming to her home and calling her a “whore.”
“The subject told the victim regardless of where she parks her vehicle, he can always find it,” cops wrote. “Family members of the victim believe the subject may have placed a GPS tracker on the vehicle.”
Deardeuff also allegedly followed her in a silver Nissan Pathfinder on Feb. 24.
“The victim is in fear for her life and believes the subject’s actions are escalating,” cops wrote. “The subject’s pattern of conduct has placed the victim in reasonable fear for her safety.”
Cops obtained an arrest warrant and took him into custody on Saturday. He has since posted a $5,000 bond.
