OWEN COUNTY, Ind. (TCN)Â —Â A 15-year-old boy has been charged as an adult with two counts of felony murder in connection with the fatal shootings of two family members.
On Aug. 9 at about 3:45 p.m., authorities responded to a call reporting a shooting at a home in Quincy. Authorities found the bodies of Grantham Chandler, 41, and Jeffrey Fauber, 61, in the driveway upon arrival. Both had gunshot wounds and were pronounced dead at the scene, WXIN reports.
Jeremiah Dill, 15, then reportedly went to the Morgan County Jail to turn himself in, according to WXIN. He allegedly told staff that he had killed his family and that he was fighting demons. He reportedly said the firearms he allegedly used were in the car he arrived in, which had previously been noted as missing from the scene of the shootings.
The Martinsville Police Department announced Aug. 9 that they had arrested a juvenile male and that there was no threat to the public.
Dill was initially brought to a psychiatric care facility, according to WXIN, but he was taken into custody after an investigation revealed he had previously threatened his father’s life. Court documents say Dill had been released from a mental health facility two days before the shooting. Family members reportedly kept their firearms locked up, but Dill gained access to them.Â
On Oct. 28, an Owen County Circuit Court judge ruled to move the case to adult court, the Owen News reports, citing a lack of time and resources in the juvenile system to address Dill’s case. He was charged with murder on Oct. 30.
A jury trial is scheduled for April 14, 2026. Dill remains in juvenile custody.
