RICHMOND, Ind. (TCN) —Â A 43-year-old woman faces charges after allegedly asking to be transported to a hospital and stealing an ambulance.
According to the Richmond Police Department, shortly after midnight on Aug. 28, Richmond Fire personnel responded to the Wayne County Jail after Amanda Kirkendall requested transportation to the hospital. Medics arrived and called in law enforcement for assistance.
As officers arrived, Kirkendall allegedly “jumped into the ambulance and drove off.” A pursuit ended at a hospital.
Police said Kirkendall was “taken into custody and given a ride back to the Wayne County Jail.” Kirkendall faces charges of resisting law enforcement, felony theft of a motor vehicle, and unauthorized control of a motor vehicle.
In a statement, officers said, “She started at the jail, drove herself to the hospital, and ended right back at the jail. Not exactly the round trip she was hoping for.”
