According to Emira D’Spain, New York City has seen her “glow up.” But before the Next Gen NYC cast member became “that bitch,” as she put it, Emira was just a kid growing up in Dallas with parents who supported her big dreams.Â
During Next Gen NYC Season 1, Episode 1, Emira revealed that her career as a content creator — which her parents are in full support of (more on that down below) — helped her purchase a home for her family in Dallas. The former beauty editor took to Instagram in November 2024, where she opened up about her big and exciting purchase.
“I BOUGHT A HOUSE…AND A CAR,” she wrote in the caption of the post. “So eternally grateful, this Thanksgiving meant so much to me. I’m blessed for this life and for all of you — this wouldn’t be possible without my c—ty barbies. Don’t worry, I’m not leaving NYC!”
“But now I have a HOME for my family and a new car for when I’m back in town,” she added. “This milestone isn’t just mine, it’s ours. Love you.”
Emira D’Spain reveals her parents “knew” she would be “a star”
In a recent interview with Elite Daily, Emira revealed that she was homeschooled until the age of 12, but was very aware of who she wanted to be at a young age. “I always knew I wanted to be a star. My parents knew,” she said. “There are videos of me as a kid pretending to be on the red carpet, talking to a camera.”

After graduating from NYU and working as a beauty editor at Paper Magazine, Emira landed a partnership with Victoria’s Secret in 2022, and became the “first Black trans Victoria’s Secret model.” It was then when she decided to become a full time content creator, she recalled to Elite Daily.
“That was when I sat my parents down and said, ‘You guys, I want to do this. I’m going to quit my job,'” she recalled.
But her mom and dad, who work in finance and engineering, were reluctant. “They were not really on board at first,” she admitted.
Eventually, they gave Emira their full support as she chased her dreams.Â
Emira D’Spain shares how her mom inspired her career
Emira’s mom has since appeared on her Instagram account, where she has done her mom’s makeup before hanging out with friends. “Doing my mom’s makeup. She’s so beautiful, I can’t,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
In her interview with Elite Daily, Emira admitted that she developed her love of makeup through her mom. “My mom is a beauty queen and I’d watch her get ready,” she said. “I started taking beauty seriously and doing looks on myself in college.”
In a May 2024 Instagram video, Emira’s mom appeared in her content as the duo wore super fancy dresses and diamonds. “Diamonds really are a girl’s (mom’s) best friend,” she wrote in the caption of the post.

During Next Gen NYC Season 1, Episode 2, Emira introduced viewers to her boyfriend, Kevin, and revealed to cast member, Ava Dash, that she would be introducing her parents to him, soon. But, she admitted that her dad is not too overprotective over her.
“He’s more chill, I feel like,” she said.Â

Emira also has two brothers, who are twins. Although they’re not heavily featured on her Instagram account, she did post a TikTok with them in 2021, as they took shots together. “I love my brothers and yes, they are twins,” she wrote in the caption of the post.
