An Iowa man faces multiple charges after he allegedly beat his grandfather with golf clubs, sprayed wasp killer into his wounds, and threatened to kill him.
Joshua Ragan, 38, also reportedly disabled his 71-year-old grandfather’s phone so he could not call for help for about three hours, KWQC reported.
When police arrived at the home shortly before 2 p.m. on Monday, they found the elderly man in the basement of the home with blunt force trauma to his head and cuts to his head and body. The man was taken to a local hospital, where medics found he had facial injuries, a broken wrist, and rib injuries. He needed stitches to his head.
The victim told investigators that Ragan punched him in the back of the head and shoved him to the floor, then attacked him with golf clubs. He sprayed wasp spray into his wounds and told him he was going to electrocute him. The victim also saw Ragan picking up three guns inside the home.
Ragan is charged with assault while participating in a felony, willful injury, control of a firearm by a felon, assault causing serious injury, assault of an older individual, and false imprisonment.
He’s being held on a $25,000 bond, jail records say. No information was available about the condition of his grandfather.
