The Valley’s Brittany Cartwright didn’t mince words when explaining what she wanted for her and Jax Taylor’s once-shared home as their divorce carries on.
On the August 22 episode of the estranged couple’s former podcast, now rebranded as When Reality Hits with Brittany Cartwright, the mother of one took fans’ questions, leaving no stone unturned. One listener couldn’t help but wonder what Brittany planned to do with the $2 million modern farmhouse in the San Fernando Valley — something to consider now that she’s dating a new man and as Jax continues living in his North Hollywood condo next door to former Vanderpump Rules cast member Tom Schwartz.
All in all, Brittany said of the five-bedroom dwelling, “No, I am staying. She is mine. A hundred percent, this is my home.”
The mother of Jax’s son, 4-year-old Cruz Michael Cauchi, said she was “still figuring out a lot of stuff with Jax’s stuff, but hopefully, whenever our divorce is finalized, that will be all taken care of.”
Continued Brittany, “But I am staying here. I do not want to move Cruz.”
Brittany Cartwright’s plans to renovate the home she and Jax Taylor used to share
The pool, swing set, and even Cruz’s own “sensory room” contributed to why mother and son were “very happy” where they were. Still, she expressed a desire to give the home a little facelift, saying, “I love this house so much, I’m definitely refreshing the house, though.” She planned a whole “redo” of the patio and living room, and wished to “start putting my own spin to things.”
And as for Jax’s presence in the house? There’s no sign of him ever living there, according to Brittany.
“I know a lot of people would think that it would be weird, or like, too many memories were here and stuff like that, but it’s not like that at all,” she clarified. “You couldn’t even tell that my ex ever lived here. We’ll just say that. No photos, no nothing.”

Why Jax Taylor wanted Brittany Cartwright to move out of their house
Those keeping tabs on Jax and Brittany’s contentious divorce will remember that following their February 2024 split, Brittany and Cruz moved from rental home to rental home. She returned to the marital home in September 2024 once Jax agreed to move elsewhere, providing a more permanent solution for Cruz, who was later diagnosed with autism.
However, during the Season 2 finale of The Valley After Show, Jax said Brittany didn’t need a house that big.
“I personally don’t think she can take care of it on her own,” he said. “It’s a big house. I mean, you’re talking about almost 4,000 square foot of home, five bedrooms, seven baths.”
He reminded viewers that he maintained the property as part of his “duty.”
On the finale, he also told cast member and longtime friend Jesse Lally, “Brittany needs to know this house needs to go on the market right now,” adding, “No woman needs a five-bedroom house with seven baths. You are a woman with a child. Get something like a three-bedroom that’s manageable as a woman.”
Brittany Cartwright says her house is son Cruz Cauchi’s forever home
This isn’t Brittany’s first time elaborating her plans to stay put in the suburban L.A. home. On the February 7 episode of the podcast (before its rebrand), she noted it was “where [Cruz] was raised,” adding, “It is not going for sale anytime soon.”

Continued Brittany, “This is another reason why I’m hustling, because I’m going to take care of my household, and I’m going to take care of my son, and I’m just very proud that I have been able to do all of this by myself. But yeah, this is my house. I’ve completely taken over everything and definitely not going to sell this baby anytime soon. I love her.”
