Jimmy Kimmel is threatening NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers with a lawsuit after the New York Jets quarterback named Kimmel in a conversation about pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, NBC News reports.
Rodgers, 40, accused Kimmel, 56, of not wanting to make public a list containing names of people associated with Epstein.
“Dear Aasshole: for the record, I’ve not met, flown with, visited, or had any contact whatsoever with Epstein, nor will you find my name on any ‘list’ other than the clearly-phony nonsense that soft-brained wackos like yourself can’t seem to distinguish from reality. Your reckless words put my family in danger. Keep it up and we will debate the facts further in court,” Kimmel wrote Tuesday in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
The late-night talk show host posted the message after Rodgers appeared on ESPN’s “The Pat McAfee Show” earlier this week and talked about the Epstein list, which is expected to be released.
Rodgers said on the show: “There’s a lot of people, including Jimmy Kimmel, that are really hoping that list doesn’t come out,” according to a recording posted online. Rodgers did not provide any evidence or factual basis in support of his claim.
Kimmel has criticized Rodgers previously for his conspiratorial remarks about Epstein, referring to the NFL star as a “tin foil hatter,” according to USA TODAY.
Epstein died in jail in August 2019 shortly after he was arrested on child sex-trafficking charges. Authorities determined he committed suicide, although that conclusion has been contested.
The release of the list was expected to happen Wednesday after a federal judge in December ordered documents related to Epstein be made public. Most of the names on the list have already been disclosed.
