Kandi Burruss’ mom, Mama Joyce Jones, has had a very complicated relationship with Kandi’s husband, Todd Tucker, over the years. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum has been open about the rollercoaster relationship between her mom and her husband, and has now revealed where they stand today.
Kandi appeared on an Amazon Live stream on May 21, where she revealed that Joyce and Todd are “not great” at the moment. “Let’s see, Friday they did pretty good,” she said. “The kids, Ace and Blaze [Tucker], had graduated from their school, so they was going pretty good.”
“But by the time I got back from my trip the other day, my mom, she wasn’t feeling me again. She wasn’t feeling us,” she admitted.

Kandi continued, noting that she is optimistic that Joyce’s feelings towards them will come around again. “Hopefully, it will change,” she said, with a laugh.
“Y’all just don’t know what I really, like, this, that, all this stuff that y’all see online — that stuff is like, who cares. But this stuff? This stuff that I really be dealing with, y’all just do not understand, OK?” she added.

Kandi had previously revealed that Todd and Joyce were doing well, during an appearance at BravoCon 2023 in Las Vegas, as seen in the video above. “They’re doing great right now,” she said during the Viva Las Atlanta Peaches panel.
Although Kandi was met with some pushback and skepticism about this, she admitted that things were complicated between them after Joyce made shady comments about Todd at BravoCon 2022, when she said that Todd was “still short,” that he “shaved his beard some,” and that he’s “very nice to his kids.” But, they were able to make amends.
“We were going through it for, like, at least seven to eight months after BravoCon [2022]. That BravoCon last year set it off in my household. They weren’t talking. If she came around, Todd would leave. It was a whole mess,” she admitted. “I guess over the summer, he decided to let it go. They started communicating. She comes over and hangs out with the kids.”

Although there might be some drama in the family, Kandi revealed to People in February how she and Todd are able to prevail through it all. “I think with my husband and I, we support each other’s dreams, and we push each other,” she said. “We always have fun. We have us that good old time.”
“Now I work hard but I play hard, so I think we are both like that. And really love family and all of that,” she added. “So that’s what keeps us connected.”
