Kandi Burruss is sharing some major updates about supporting her daughter, Riley Burruss, and her mom, Mama Joyce Jones. The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum had been very open about financially supporting Riley over the years, and is now revealing their status today.Â
Kandi appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Sunday, Feb. 22, where she was asked the following question by host Andy Cohen: “Who would you say you support more financially, Riley or your mom?”
“Oh, that’s easy, Riley,” Kandi replied with an exasperated look on her face. “Riley runs through my pockets.”
“I mean, you know, she lives in New York in a two-bedroom in a nice building. She does not have a roommate,” she continued. “That girl…”
Kandi also shared a major update on Riley’s career as well if she still plans to go to law school. “You know, she still says she’s going to be a lawyer. She needs to be because the way she argues her points,” Kandi admitted. “She was like, ‘Mom, it’s for my mental health.’ Like, I promise you. It’s a whole thing.”

Although Riley might get more financial support from Kandi, Kandi admitted on WWHL that she is in a good place with her mom today. She told Andy that Joyce has “been pretty calm” about Kandi’s ongoing divorce from Todd Tucker.
“She’s been trying not to say too much, not to get into it,” Kandi continued. “Sometimes, the internet, conversations with people or their opinions about our divorce can get in her head. And she’s like, ‘Well, they said that you need —.’ ‘Ma, I don’t care, because they don’t really know what’s happening between he and I.'”

Riley Burruss opens up about her plans for the future amid her financial situation
Kandi and Riley appeared on WWHL in the summer of 2025, where they opened up about her financial situation. Riley admitted that Kandi had not cut her off because she had plans to get her master’s degree.
“So I’m still gonna go to law school,” she said during the July 15 episode. “We’ll see which school. I don’t like to tell everyone exactly what I’m doing, but I’m going to get my master’s.”

During a May 2025 interview with The Daily Dish, Riley admitted that she was “studying for the LSAT.” “I want to get that, then my business degree,” the Next Gen NYC cast member explained, noting that she was trying to get a “dual degree.” “So I’m trying to study for both. It’s a lot.”
