Carl Radke is officially a published author with the debut of his memoir, Cake Eater. The Summer House cast member’s new book hit bookshelves on Dec. 30, and his BFF, Kyle Cooke, could not be more excited for him.
Kyle took to his Instagram Story on Dec. 30, where he reposted a video of Carl holding Cake Eater: A Journey to Self Discovery in his hands for the very first time. In the video, Carl can be seen opening up a box of his books while talking about the memoir. “I’m excited, but a little nervous,” he said. “It’s exciting, it’s overwhelming because I really open up and share a lot about things that I’ve been through that you guys aren’t familiar with.”
In Kyle’s Instagram Story, he admitted that he is “so proud” of Carl. “Congrats on your book launch brother!” he wrote. “Head to [Carl Radke] for signed books, Audible link, and tour dates. So proud of you!”
Carl also took to his own Instagram Story, where he posted a photo of himself shopping for the book at Barnes & Noble, as it is officially available in stores as of Tuesday. “Cake Eater is here,” he wrote in the caption of the post.
What is Carl Radke’s new book about?
Cake Eater is about Carl’s life as well as journey with his sobriety. In the book, according to the publisher, Carl “opens up about a side of his life few have seen. With unfiltered honesty, he takes readers through the highs and lows, from career shifts and family dynamics, to finding peace in his recovery.”
Carl continued to open up about his book in a video posted to Instagram on Dec. 30. “I felt like it was important to share my honest life story,” he said. “My hope is that I help people, inspire people, and make people feel less alone about figuring out who you are.”
Carl Radke opens up about his sober bar and café, Soft Bar + Café
As it turns out, 2025 was a big year for Carl’s career, as he opened his sober bar and café, Soft Bar + Café, in August. Soft Bar, located in Brooklyn, is a space that serves mocktails, “soft drinks,” coffee, coffee alternatives, and healthy snacks.

Carl spoke with Page Six Radio in September, where he confirmed that his ex-fiancé, Lindsay Hubbard, visited Soft Bar, in addition to other Summer House cast members. “It’s been amazing to have the cast support,” he said. “You know, obviously, we’ve all launched businesses or brands and have our podcasts or whatever it is, but everybody’s really rallied around it. It’s been cool to have them come in and see it and really kind of take it in, and the feedback has been great from them, too.”

When Carl joined the cast of Summer House in Season 1, he was working in a medical and dental sales job. But he was just a little confused about what he wanted to do with his career. In 2017, he revealed to The Daily Dish that he had been investing in and promoting two bars in NYC and even produced two short films.

“The dental thing, I’m kind of tabling for now,” he explained. “I’m kind of just gonna ride out some of these other more exciting things [that] I’m more passionate about than just the teeth thing.”

Carl is keeping busy in 2026 as well. He has spent a lot of time sharing his life on Summer House for the past 10 seasons. And Carl has a new approach to his life in Summer House Season 10, which premieres on Bravo on Tuesday, Feb. 3 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.

He’s training for the New York City Marathon while raising awareness for addiction recovery and mental health.
