Kyle Richards Defends Her Home’s Polarizing Holiday Decor

Kyle Richards is making zero apologies for her Halloween decor.

How to Watch

Watch The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills on Peacock and Bravo.

After prepping her home for the spooky season, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom returned to Instagram to offer another glimpse at her decked-out living room. Kyle posted a photo of her “cozy night in” with her youngest daughter, Portia Umansky, who was seen standing before the burning fireplace with her eyes glued to the TV.

“Sooo scary!” Kyle wrote, referring to the horror series they were watching.

The photo was definitely giving warm holiday vibes, thanks in large part to the amber lighting and cute touches of Halloween. There were string lights, skeleton and witch figurines, ghost- and pumpkin-shaped sofa pillows, and a “Hello Fall” marquee displayed next to the fireplace. However, there was one piece of decor that had some followers scratching their heads: a small artificial evergreen adorned with purple and green lights.

“And that is a HALLOWEEN tree,” Kyle wrote, “not a Christmas tree. Let me live.”

She readdressed the tree in her latest Amazon Live stream, insisting the decorative piece elevated her home’s coziness.

“Yes, I have a Halloween tree,” Kyle said during the October 9 broadcast. “I’ve never had a Halloween tree, by the way. But, hey, if they sell it, I’m gonna buy it. So, I was really excited. I really get excited to make my house feel cozy, inviting, and happy-feeling.”

The Beverly Hills mom acknowledged that not everyone was a fan of the Halloween tree, but it was a big hit among her family. Her daughter Alexia Umansky shared another look at the piece during a family movie night and pre-emptively defended her mother’s decoration choice.

“Yes guys it’s a tree but it’s HALLOWEEN tree – green, purple, and orange,” the newlywed captioned the Story. “And the branches are black. This is my mother, do not judge her.”

Kyle reshared the post on her Instagram, adding that she wished the tree were larger and more decorated. “[Hashtag] SorryNotSorry.”

“My girls love it. Alexia came home the other night and we all had dinner, and she was so excited about that,” Kyle recalled. “She’s like, ‘I need a Halloween tree!’ But it feels so cute and cozy, and this really gets you in the mood for fall. I don’t know, I love it.”

She continued: “Some people were very worked up thinking it was a Christmas tree, which, I mean, they should see my sister Kathy [Hilton]. She has a tree up year-round, at least downstairs. Little strange, not gonna lie.”
