Kyle Richards is turning her passion for hats into a business.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom teased the not-so-unexpected move during her latest Amazon Live stream, after a fan asked what she’s been up to these days.
Kyle Richards takes steps toward launching a hat line
“What is new? So much. A lot,” Kyle responded. “I’ve been wanting to start a hat line for a long time. If anyone knows anything about me, they know that I love hats and I always have.”
But the RHOBH cast member wasn’t content with just slapping her name on a generic headwear collection. She actually took the initiative to learn the art of millinery, and even made her own hats “from scratch.” Kyle told viewers she went through the full design process, doing everything from picking out the material to “cutting, molding, steaming, ironing.”
“It was really fun,” she said.

Kyle Richards says her “love for hats runs deep”
The business move makes total sense, as Kyle’s love for headwear has been well-documented over the years. The mother of four has been seen rocking everything from beanies to fedoras to baseball caps, but her preferred style is, without a doubt, the classic cowboy hat, specifically from Aspen-based retailer Kemo Sabe.
“When my friends come to Aspen, it is a rite of passage to go to Kemo Sabe and get a hat,” she said in RHOBH Season 12, Episode 18. “You’re going to get your initials on it, we’re going to adorn things on it, we’re going to set it on fire. It’s the best.”
Kyle has also given Instagram shoutouts to hat-makers Soulbyrd, Nick Fouquet, and Teressa Foglia. In January 2024, she modeled a gorgeous forest green design for the latter designer and reiterated her affinity for the accessories.
“My love for hats runs deep,” she captioned a carousel.
Kyle Richards shows off her cowboy hat tattoo
And she wasn’t exaggerating. In March of 2024, Kyle confirmed she had expanded her tattoo collection with a cowboy hat piece. Fans got a glimpse at the ink in an Instagram Story originally shared by tattoo artist Amanda Merkatz. The clip showed the fine-line design etched on Kyle’s forearm.
“I always grew up loving hats,” she said in RHOBH Season 12. “My mom loved hats, and I started collecting them — I don’t even remember how long ago. It’d be hard to pick a favorite. They’re like my children.”

Kyle Richards opens up about her time on RHOBH
Days after the Amazon Live stream, Kyle spoke to People magazine about her reality TV career and potential departure.
“It’s been a long time. 15 years,” she said, referring to her RHOBH run. “It really is. It’s a long time. I don’t know how long this can go on, how long I can go on for… But 15 years is a long time, and there’s things I want to do, and it takes up a lot of time. And (her daughter) Portia [Umansky] is going to college, so who knows.”
In addition to her hat-making venture, Kyle has remained busy with her acting and production jobs. Get more details on her career both in front of and behind the camera.
