As The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills‘ Kyle Richards continues to navigate her ongoing separation from Mauricio Umansky, she found herself in uncharted territory when her estranged husband leased a house without her knowledge.
Kyle visited Mauricio’s new Hollywood Hills home for the first time during Season 15, Episode 2, and in a confessional, she explained the significance of her ex’s move from his high-rise “bachelor pad condo” to the 3-bedroom, 3-bath, 2,958-square-foot living space.
“Originally, we had said that Mau would lease his place in the high-rise for six months, and then we would have a discussion after,” Kyle shared with a producer. “But Mau went from his place at the high-rise to leasing this house without me even knowing. I feel like it brings us further away from the conversation of potentially fixing things in the future.”

On The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills After Show, Kyle opened up even more about her feelings on Mauricio’s new living situation. Â
“Walking into Mau’s house, I definitely felt like, oh this really feels real,” she remarked. “It feels more permanent and it feels more like, OK, we’re getting farther and farther apart here. Because when he had the condo, it felt temporary, and now, this is like, oh, now he went and moved again and chose to go to, like, a proper home.”

Walking into Mauricio’s new place for the first time ultimately made Kyle feel “sad,” she added on RHOBH After Show, before unpacking the reason behind her emotional reaction.
“He lived in this house with so many people,” the mom of four elaborated. “We had so much going on in our home. It’s like it was me and our daughters and the dogs, and to see him, like, alone in this home, it, you know, it feels strange to think that this is his life now.”

Kyle continued, “Even though he has moments of having fun, I’m sure, being single, I know that’s not easy for him. He’s a family man, and he loved coming home at the end of the day after work to this house filled with all of us there. And so, it was strange, like, seeing this bachelor pad house. Like, who are you?”
Even so, Kyle’s reaction to Mau’s new place on RHOBH‘s Dec. 11 episode was positive. As he showed her around, Kyle remarked, “Oh wow, this is beautiful.” She even brought him some towels as a housewarming gift.

Piggybacking off a conversation the estranged couple had during Episode 2, an After Show producer pointed out how Mauricio’s dating life had been much “more public” than Kyle’s. That prompted her to, again, cite her ex’s solo living situation while defending him.
“Well, Mau goes out a lot,” Kyle reasoned. “And he actually said to me, you know, ‘I don’t wanna go home to an empty house. I don’t wanna go be by myself.’ So, that’s why he goes out more, which is understandable.”
The RHOBH ‘Wife, meanwhile, pointed out that she doesn’t “go out as much,” which could account for why photographers haven’t captured her on the dates she said she’d been on since she and Mauricio announced their separation in October 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
“I’m just more discreet,” Kyle added, comparing herself to Mau. “I don’t need to go to the hot spots, and I’m also more aware. And it’s taken him a while to get used to that, because he’s not used to being followed by paparazzi. So, that was new since our separation, and he had to learn that they’re actually watching and hiding.”
