Kyle Richards’ youngest daughter, Portia Umansky, is getting closer and closer to leaving the nest. During her January 20 Amazon Live stream, The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills mom offered a quick but exciting update on Portia’s college admissions journey. Kyle told viewers that the high school senior has already heard back from multiple universities, and “it’s all been good news.”
“She’s been getting her acceptance letters,” Kyle said. “I’m just so proud of her and excited for her. She’s just trying to decide which one she goes to.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills daughter kicked off her college search in 2025, when she began touring campuses with Kyle and her dad, Mauricio Umansky. Kyle revealed that Portia’s initial “dream school” was the University of Miami, but she seemingly had a change of heart after visiting schools in Texas.

“I took my youngest, Portia, to look at colleges, which is so crazy,” Kyle told Extra in April 2025. “I went to Austin, we went to Dallas, we went to Fort Worth… TCU [Texas Christian University], and then Mau took her to [the University of] Miami. So, we’re doing the rounds right now…
“TCU she liked a lot, [and] also SMU [Southern Methodist University],” Kyle added. “We want less partying and more studying and fun.”
Kyle Richards describes Portia Umansky as “a very strong student”
Elsewhere in the Amazon Live stream, Kyle praised Portia’s academic achievements and self-reliance. She pointed out that Portia never asked for help when it came to her school work, unlike her other daughters, Alexia Umansky, Sophia Umansky, and Farrah Brittany.
“I’m very fortunate that she’s a very strong student,” Kyle gushed. “She’s so smart, Portia… She’s literally never in her life asked for help with her homework. My other daughters, you know, some are stronger students than others — they’re all equally intelligent — but they would ask for help sometimes. And I’m just gonna be honest: I don’t like that part of parenting. Don’t like the homework situation. [Portia has] just never asked for help. She’s just very independent like that.”
Kyle Richards admits she’s “anxious” about Portia Umansky’s college journey
Although Kyle said she was excited for Portia’s new chapter, she confessed she was a little “anxious.” She shared her thoughts in a 2025 chat with The Daily Dish, revealing Portia was understandably nervous about the transition.

“It’s going to be hard, obviously, when she actually leaves,” Kyle said. “And I know she’s very nervous about that, which also makes me feel anxious. But, you know, I’ve survived three times before, so hopefully, I’ll survive this time, too.”
