The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Kyle Richards is offering an update on her BFF, Teddi Mellencamp, amid the latter’s battle with stage 4 cancer.
Kyle said learning Teddi was “cancer-free” was “the best call you could ever hear in your life,” referring to when Teddi announced on her and The Real Housewives of Orange County’s Tamra Judge’s podcast, Two Ts in a Pod, that there was “no detectable cancer” following her years-long journey. Kyle said in a recent interview with USA Today that the news was “amazing,” but not without its struggles, including two more years of immunotherapy treatment.
Kyle said, “I mean, she has hard days, you know, when she feels very down, where she doesn’t have the energy, and then other days, she pulls it together, and she’s great, she’s doing her podcast, still killing it with that, and still working, but it’s hard. It’s hard, even though she’s cancer-free now, now she’s trying to get her life back.”
Kyle revealed that it was thanks to her that Teddi arrived at BravoCon 2025 in November, for which she was “really proud” of her longtime friend. She said, “She was really nervous to go to BravoCon because she said, ‘You know what, I don’t have the energy,’ and I said, ‘Everyone gets the energy once you’re in Vegas; it’s contagious.’”

Teddi has been candid about her health journey ever since Kyle encouraged her to seek medical advice about a suspicious mole on her back in 2022, leading to Teddi’s initial melanoma (skin cancer) diagnosis. Ultimately, the cancer metastasized to her lungs and brain, resulting in multiple surgeries to remove tumors.

Though reporting no cancer in October, Teddi has openly discussed the challenges of immunotherapy. “Some days are definitely better than others,” she confessed on her Instagram Stories in early November. “And you don’t see all the times I’m laying in bed unable to do much. Don’t be afraid to let people know how you’re feeling, and don’t feel guilty if you need to rest.”

Last month, Kyle shared an update on her bond with Teddi during an interview with The Daily Dish, touching on her own ongoing separation from Mauricio Umansky and Teddi’s split from Edwin Arroyave.

“You know, and just going through what she’s gone through, [it] just brought us even closer,” Kyle said. “I mean, what I was going through first, and then what she was going through with her separation, and then having this curveball come at her, like, this was just really mind-blowing, you know, to think that someone that you’re so close to and love so much is going through something so scary.”
Kyle added, “It really did just bring us even closer, and I just love and appreciate her so much.”
Teddi Mellencamp reflects on a “difficult” year in 2025
Teddi gathered with her family for Christmas 2025 and was feeling emotional about the celebrations this year. “After what’s been the most difficult year of my life, I’m so grateful that I get to celebrate another Christmas, and continue the tradition of sharing with you all one of my favorite memories,” she wrote in an Instagram post.

In fact, as they continue to navigate life amid their split. Edwin and Teddi were together on Christmas, and each shared sweet family photos on their respective Instagram feeds. “The only gifts I need. Merry Christmas to you and yours,” Teddi wrote on social media alongside a photo of her posing with their kids.
Edwin shared a similar photo, adding alongside the holiday snapshot, “God is good. Merry Christmas to all!”
