Lala Kent was not expecting her pre-cancerous eye abnormality diagnosis earlier this year. But, the Vanderpump Rules alum is remaining optimistic now that she’s partially through her treatment with “topical chemo.”
Lala took to her Give Them Lala podcast on July 14, where she shared an update on her eye condition after recently going to the doctor. “There were almost no signs of pre-cancerous cells anymore,” she noted.
She admitted that she had first seen an optometrist, who diagnosed the condition as an “inflamed pinguecula,” which is a “callus” caused by “sun exposure, dust, [and] wind” and the “elements from being outside,” Lala explained on her podcast. But, she then saw an ophthalmologist, who diagnosed it as pre-cancer, and started her on chemo eye drops.

“It’s a topical chemo,” Lala said on the podcast about the treatment. “It’s called 5-FU and they paired it with Lotemax, which is a steroid… I had to do, or have to do those, I’m not done yet, three rounds. A week on, three weeks off, and in that time, I see my ophthalmologist twice.”
The mom of two then revealed why she’s been so private about sharing her health journey. “The reason for that is, I was just so blindsided by the time I made the initial post of vanity [where I was like,] ‘Get this off my f—king eye,’ to, ‘Oh, we’re talking about my vision here,’ to where I didn’t want to talk about it because I didn’t want to jinx it,” she noted.
Lala had previously shared photos of the abnormality to her Instagram Story in May, before getting a biopsy on it and having it diagnosed as pre-cancerous.

The Valley friend is still going through the treatment. “The first two rounds of the chemo drops, knock on wood, have gone splendidly well,” she said, admitting that the doctor has been “thrilled about the progress that we’re making.”

She now starts “round three” of the eye drops this week. “This is my last round,” she continued. “So I haven’t kept anyone updated because I don’t want to come out, and here I am talking about this, but so many people have asked. If you have something on your eye, you guys, I highly recommend going to an ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. I was misdiagnosed.”

But, there is still so much that is unknown about what happens after her treatment. “I’m praying to God that after round three is done and I go in, they still say, ‘We’re all good here.’ I did ask, ‘What do we do after, God willing, all is good?'” she recalled.

“She said, ‘I’m going to see you at six months on the dot for the rest of your life. That is what you have to do.’ I’m like, the f—king eye doctor, man.”
Why Lala Kent was trying to “stay positive” amid her health scare
During a video post to her Instagram Story in May, Lala admitted that it had been hard for her to stay positive. “It’s wild. I’ll have friends who come to me when they’re going through a health situation, and I’m like, ‘It’s going to be fine. You’ll be good. We’re gonna figure it out. We’ll cross bridges when we get to them,'” she admitted.
“Then, you’re placed in this situation, all you can do is just sit here and stress and think about every possible, horrendous situation, and all of the advice that you give to people completely goes out the window,” she added. “So, I’m trying to stay positive.”
