Broadway child star Imani Dia Smith was found stabbed to death at her home in New Jersey over the weekend.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone said police were called to a home in Edison Sunday morning and found Imani Dia Smith with stab wounds. She was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Smith, 25, played Young Nala in “The Lion King’ in 2011 and 2012, Playbill reported. She had a 3-year-old son who was apparently at the home when she was killed.
The prosecutor’s office said that 35-year-old Jordan D. Jackson-Small had been arrested and charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a weapon.
The prosecutors said Jackson-Small and Smith “knew each other prior to the incident” but did not describe their relationship. A GoFundMe set up by Smith’s aunt, however, said that Jackson-Small was her boyfriend.
