Two suspects have been arrested after police found the body of a pregnant Tennessee woman in Georgia, wrapped in blankets.
The Rome Police Department reported that they were called to the John Graham Homes near Hull Avenue and Cedar Avenue on December 9, in Rome. Upon arriving, police found a dead female’s body covered in blankets.
Witnesses gave the police a description of a red vehicle they saw fleeing the scene. Police later stopped the vehicle in Bartow County. They took Mystique Malachi Amaziah Taylor, 23, and the person he recently met online, Rolanda Monique Edwards, 25, into custody.
The body was later identified as Kaylee B. Shackelford, 20, of Powell, Tennessee. Taylor had been in a relationship with Shackelford, and during their relationship, he started a new relationship with Edwards.
On December 10, the couple appeared before a judge. During their appearance, the judge said that Taylor reportedly stabbed Shackelford numerous times.
He is also accused of beating her with a baseball bat, striking her in the head, and causing her death, according to 11 Alive.
Police announced Friday that Shackelford was determined to be pregnant at the time of her death.
Both Taylor and Edwards are being held without bond at the Floyd County Jail.
Police listed Taylor’s charges as feticide, fleeing or attempting to elude, reckless driving, speeding, theft by receiving stolen property, and failure to obey traffic-control devices.
In addition, Taylor is also facing felony warrants for concealing the death of another, aggravated assault, two counts of felony murder, and aggravated battery. Taylor is also being held for the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office.
Edward’s list of charges include party to a crime, with warrants for concealing the death of another and hindering apprehension or punishment of a criminal.
