The RHOC alum, who appeared on both Season 8 and Season 12 of the show, is still outspoken about her faith, and is still a devoted mother to the three sons — Stirling, Maverick, and Roman McLaughlin — that she shares with her husband, Doug McLaughlin. But, her sons have grown up a lot since RHOC Season 12 first aired in 2017.

Lydia most recently took to Instagram, where she shared a major update on her oldest son, Stirling, and his newest venture in Lydia’s home province of Newfoundland, Canada, at her family’s newsroom. “Newfoundland is my happy place, and it’s part of my boys, too,” she wrote in the caption of the post.

Lydia’s grandfather, Geoff Stirling, founded NTV (North America’s first 24-hour TV station) and helped run Stirling Communications International. She revealed that her son Stirling is now a part of that legacy. “Watching Stirling intern in the newsroom as the 4th generation at our family’s TV station, to Mav and Roman roaming the same rocks I grew up on, it was a special few weeks,” she noted.

“I’m so thankful for these moments and this beautiful life. God is good,” she concluded.

“I grew up in Newfoundland, and it’s so important to me that my boys know their newfie roots,” she continued. “Every summer of their life, we come home, and even though this was our first without my mom’s pancakes in the morning, we feel her presence in every corner. There’s something powerful in returning to your roots and connecting with the core of your being. I’m so thankful for traditions, our family legacy, and these precious moments with my boys…time moves too quickly, but these memories last forever.”

He is kind, faithful, loyal, smart, and funny. He is a true Maverick.”

“Doug and I are so proud of him, because of his heart,” she continued. “He is a lot like me and as we enter into these teen years I feel our powerful opinions giving each other a little pushback.”
