JEFFERSON COUNTY, Colo. (TCN) — Authorities recently arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of trying to kidnap a young girl at a grocery store twice.
According to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, on June 21, deputies responded to a Safeway store on South Kipling Parkway to a report of an attempted abduction. Authorities said an 8-year-old girl was shopping with her grandmother in the produce section when Bradley Wilson, a stranger, went up to the child, “put his hand on her shoulders,” and allegedly asked, “May I borrow your child?”
Deputies allege that Wilson tried to walk away with the 8-year-old, and her grandmother yelled at him. The child reportedly escaped and ran back to her grandma.
According to the sheriff’s office, Wilson exited the store but returned shortly after and attempted to kidnap the girl again. Staff yelled at Wilson, and he drove away.
Deputies located Wilson and took him into custody. He remains held in the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of second-degree kidnapping of a minor.
The child and her grandmother were physically unharmed.
