PUEBLO , Colo. (TCN) — A 19-year-old man allegedly killed both of his parents before turning the gun on himself, police say.
On April 4, officers were dispatched to a home following reports of a shooting, the Pueblo Police Department announced. When they arrived, they found two people dead — one in the road and another in a vehicle. While officers were investigating the scene, the sheriff’s office received a report of a man dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound at another location. Preliminary information obtained by the police identified him as the suspect in the double homicide.
Later that day, the Pueblo County Coroner identified the victims of the homicide as 40-year-old Glenn Allen Beeman Jr. and 41-year-old Amanda Lee Manion. Glenn Allen Beeman III, 19, was identified as the victim of the self-inflicted gunshot wound.
According to Manion’s brother, Eric Manion, the couple was estranged, People reports. In a Facebook post, he said, “Family and Friends, I am deeply sorry if you are learning about this horrific tragedy on Facebook, and I apologize for not being able to reach out to everyone in person. It is with profound sadness that I share that my sister, Amanda Manion, her estranged ex-husband, Glenn Beeman Sr., and my oldest nephew, Glenn beeman III, have passed away.”
Oxygen reports Eric Manion went on to say the homicides were “the direct and cumulative result of a catastrophic failure within the mental health system. Glenn Beeman III suffered a severe and complete mental collapse, which initiated a tragic sequence of events beginning with the taking of his mother’s life.” He said others at the scene intervened and that “their courageous actions successfully dissuaded Glenn III from causing further harm to others, ending with him taking his own life.”
According to People, in addition to Beeman III, Manion was the mother of other young children. Two months prior to the homicide, she wrote a Facebook post celebrating Beeman III, which read, “19 years of being a boy mom! The ups and downs and in-between! I hope you know what I mean when I say I love you always and forever.”
The investigation is ongoing.
