A Pennsylvania man allegedly decapitated his father and displayed his head in a YouTube video in which he spouted right-wing conspiracy theories and called his father — a 20-year federal employee — a traitor.
Justin Mohn, 32, is in custody in Bucks County and facing charges of first-degree murder and abuse of a corpse, court records show. He is accused of killing his father Michael Mohn.
According to NBC News, Justin Mohn called for the death of all federal officials in his YouTube video. He also reportedly railed against President Joe Biden’s administration, the Black Lives Matter movement, LGBTQ people, and “Antifa” activists.
In the YouTube video, Justin Mohn apparently holds up a bag containing his father’s head. NBC reported that the victim’s head was later seen in a cooking pot. The video, which lasted more than 14 minutes, was taken down after several hours on the website.
Philadelphia ABC affiliate WPVI reported that the video had more than 5,000 views.
A sparsely worded news release from the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office gave no insight into the gruesome nature of the alleged crime.
“Middletown Township Police were dispatched at 7 p.m. Tuesday to a home in the 100 block of Upper Orchard Drive for a report of a deceased male,” the statement, issued at around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, said. “The call to emergency dispatchers came from the victim’s wife. When officers arrived, they located the male deceased in the bathroom. The victim’s adult son was not present when police arrived and left the area in his father’s vehicle. He was located and taken into custody hours later.”
Mohn was reportedly located in Fort Indiantown Gap in Lebanon County, some 100 miles from the crime scene.
Court records show that Justin Mohn was denied bail and is scheduled to be arraigned on Wednesday.
