PLYMOUTH COUNTY, Mass. (TCN) —Â A man recently pleaded not guilty to killing a Maine chef before wrapping his body in blankets and dropping his remains off outside a Massachusetts hospital.
According to Plymouth County District Attorney Timothy Cruz, 42-year-old Christopher Caron entered a not guilty plea on Sept. 2 to one count of murder in connection with the death of 27-year-old Declan Perry. Caron is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 29 and was held without bail.
On Aug. 12, Caron and Perry reportedly arranged to meet in Massachusetts to purchase narcotics. On Aug. 22, Perry and Caron allegedly drove to Boston, where they bought fentanyl and cocaine before driving back to where Caron had been staying.
On the night of Aug. 22, prosecutors allege that Caron searched online for “7-Eleven and Narcan.” At around 1:07 a.m. on Aug. 23, Caron reportedly called a woman to help, and she assisted in giving three doses of Narcan to Perry. She reportedly fell asleep and woke up to find Perry dead.
The district attorney’s office alleges that the woman had told Caron multiple times to get medical assistance for Perry, but he refused. Caron allegedly wrapped Perry’s body in moving blankets and duct tape. Authorities allege that Caron and the woman “moved the body out of the basement room and attempted to move it using a wooden door as a stretcher to put the body inside Perry’s Honda Civic.” Prosecutors said multiple “neighbors noticed Caron struggling to move Perry’s body and assisted him in getting it into the car.”
On the afternoon of Aug. 23, South Shore Hospital staff contacted Weymouth Police after finding the body outside the emergency room entrance. A preliminary autopsy revealed Perry suffered deep hemorrhaging injuries to his chest, eyes, nose, and mouth, as well as injuries to his neck consistent with strangulation. According to WBZ-TV, prosecutor Jennifer Sprague said the victim didn’t die from a drug overdose.
Authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Caron, and he turned himself in on Aug. 30.
