A man hid under clothes in a woman’s car in what 911 callers said was an attempt to take her child, according to cops in Sherwood, Arkansas.
Timothy Earl Caudle, 58, is held on a $35,000 bond at a Pulaski County jail for breaking and entering, false imprisonment, endangering the welfare of a minor, assault in the third degree, public intoxication, and obstructing government operations, records show.
Police said they got a 911 call about a man inside a woman’s vehicle at a Walmart on Highway 107.
“The callers advised a man was attempting to take the victim’s 2-year-old child,” police wrote. “Officers arrived on the scene and contacted the victim and her young child. She stated she had returned to her vehicle and placed her child in the car before noticing an unknown man under some clothing inside the vehicle.”
The woman said she started yelling at the man to get out, and she reached for her daughter.
“The victim said she grabbed her daughter from the vehicle, and after a short struggle, she was able to get her daughter out of the truck,” they wrote. “The initial responding officer stated the witnesses had prevented the unknown male from getting out of the truck until officers arrived.”
Cops claim Caudle initially lied about his name.
Records show the defendant pleaded not guilty to charges. A hearing is set for March 26.
“This incident is still under investigation, and additional charges are possible,” authorities wrote.
