HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (TCN) —Â Authorities recently charged a convicted sex offender on suspicion of beating a man to death nearly 15 years ago.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, investigators found 48-year-old James Terry deceased inside his trailer on Oct. 5, 2010. Deputies said he died of blunt head trauma, but no arrests were made at the time, and the case went cold.
More than a decade later, in 2021, authorities identified Jerry Fain as a lead in the case, and a detective began reviewing Terry’s death. The sheriff’s office announced July 1 that Fain now faces a charge of murder.
According to KTRK-TV, Terry’s daughter said her father and Fain previously had a disagreement. She has always believed that Fain was responsible for her father’s death.
Fain is already serving a life sentence for fatally strangling his girlfriend, April Cobb-Gundacker, in 2014.
At the time of the fatal beating, Fain was reportedly a convicted sex offender who had assaulted a 14-year-old girl.
