A 27-year-old man in Florida is accused of attacking a small sleeping child after he was allegedly caught on home surveillance footage grabbing the child from his bed and placing him in a “chokehold.”

Dominic Fisher was taken into custody on Tuesday and charged with two counts of cruelty toward a child by aggravated child abuse, court records reviewed by Law&Crime show.

“This video is beyond disturbing,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement following the arrest. “I’m disgusted by this low-life and his senseless act against an innocent sleeping child. We will do everything we can to ensure this man faces the harshest penalties possible,” said Sheriff Marceno.

The sheriff’s office put out a news release accompanied by a 29-second clip showing parts of the alleged attack that authorities called “chilling.” In the footage, a man authorities say is Fisher can be seen walking into the bedroom while the child was asleep, then “grabbing them around the neck and placing them in the chokehold,” adding that “the choking lasted for multiple seconds.”

According to a probable cause affidavit, deputies on Aug. 26 responded to a home after getting a call reporting an instance of child abuse. Save for Fisher, the names and relationships of the victim and witnesses are redacted from the document.

Upon arriving, first responders made contact with a woman, presumably the victim’s mother, who said that she had placed a hidden camera in her son’s bedroom and later observed Fisher putting the boy “in a chokehold while he slept at approximately 2 a.m. that morning.”

She said she put the camera in the child’s room because he had come to her with previous complaints that were “vague in nature,” but in reference to him “not liking [Fisher].”

“[The victim] was visibly upset and timid with [investigators] and refused to make any disclosures in reference to the incident,” the affidavit states. “[Investigators] observed bruising to victim one’s neck area consistent with the surveillance video provided by his mother to LCSO, in which he is seen being placed into a headlock by Dominic Fisher.”

The affidavit also describes the attack seen in the footage, with investigators writing that Fisher was “suspending the victim in the air via the chokehold” while the victim could be seen “flailing his legs and in obvious distress.”

The victim further told investigators that the previous evening, Fisher had come into his room and “kicked him in the stomach and punched him in the neck while he slept,” adding that Fisher “does this often.” The victim’s sibling corroborated the victim’s story, authorities said.

Investigators obtained a warrant and seized the surveillance camera and footage as evidence.

When brought in for questioning, authorities said Fisher invoked his rights and declined to provide a statement. Details from the victim’s forensic interview were entirely redacted from the document.

“Based on the investigation in its totality to include video surveillance obtained in which Dominic is seen aggressively choking victim one several times throughout the early morning hours of August 26, 2025, disclosures made by victim one and victim two, and injuries observed on victim one’s neck region consistent with all statements obtained Detective Quijano established probable cause to arrest and charge Dominic Fisher,” the affidavit concludes.
