Man charged with attempted murder for allegedly stabbing KFC employee as he left work

MALTA, N.Y. (TCN) — A man has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly attacking an employee who was leaving a KFC restaurant.

Syracuse.com reports that on Feb. 15, 22-year-old Shayne Vaccaro ran up to a New York State Police patrol vehicle that was clearing a traffic stop and told the trooper he had stabbed someone.

Vaccaro was taken into custody while additional law enforcement went to the KFC, according to Syracuse.com. There, they found a 34-year-old employee, whose name has not been released, suffering from stab wounds to his chest and arms. The responding deputy applied a tourniquet, and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to state police, he is in stable condition and expected to survive, Yahoo! News reports.

An investigation determined that Vaccaro was waiting outside the KFC for the employee to finish his shift. WRBG reports that a fellow employee confirmed that the victim worked there but could not provide any additional information.

According to a state police spokesman, Vaccaro is currently homeless.

Vaccaro was charged with attempted murder and arraigned and remanded to the Saratoga County Jail. His bail was set at $200,000 cash or $400,000 bond, according to Syracuse.com. The investigation is ongoing.
