MARIETTA, Ohio (TCN) —Â A 53-year-old man was recently convicted of killing a 28-year-old mother and her son, who were found in a burnt-out home nearly three decades ago.
The Ohio Attorney General’s Office announced Aug. 21 that a jury convicted Scott Hickman of four counts of aggravated murder and two counts of murder for the 1995 deaths of Kimberly Fulton and her 17-month-old son, Daniel. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 14.
According to authorities, on March 5, 1995, Fulton and her child were found deceased in a burnt-out mobile home. Investigators re-examined the case in 2019, exhumed the bodies, and determined they had died before the fire was set. Officials believe the fire was set to conceal the defendant’s crimes.
Prosecutors said another defendant, Johnny Ball, was indicted in May 2024 on five counts of perjury and one count of obstructing justice. His case is ongoing.

In a statement, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost said, “These brutal murders went unsolved for three decades, leaving a family searching for answers and justice. Thanks to the dogged work of detectives and prosecutors from multiple agencies — masterfully led by Senior Assistant Attorney General Dan Kasaris — this villain is finally behind bars.”
