A Texas man shot five people — killing three — then crashed his Dodge Caravan into a Buc-ee’s convenience store, where he struck a woman inside and pinned her to a sales display before shooting himself in the head, cops say.
Christopher Reid Jr., 29, is currently hospitalized after attempting to take his own life at a Buc-ee’s in Ennis around 5 a.m. on Friday, according to ABC affiliate WFAA.
He allegedly shot five people, killing three, at a home in Mabank just before 2:30 a.m. before heading to the Buc-ee’s in his 2003 Caravan, per police. A motive has not yet been released by authorities.
A neighbor told WFAA that her front door, deck and steps are stained with blood after one of Reid’s apparent victims came to her home after the shooting in a panic.
“He came tapping on the door. Real loud,” said neighbor Cheryl Noble. “He said, ‘Help me, I’ve been shot.’ He said his brother shot him.”

Investigators have not confirmed whether Reid targeted family members, but they have identified the deceased as Kimberly Simpson, 51, Connie Patrick, 72, and Ronny Hammonds, 57. They each suffered gunshot wounds, while Hammonds was also a victim of blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds, cops say.
Two others who were shot and hospitalized were identified as Colton Reid, 24, and Henry Hopgood, 70. Their conditions were unknown as of Sunday evening.
Police say Reid shot the group at a home located off Taso Drive in the Cedar Creek subdivision in Mabank before fleeing in the minivan. The woman he allegedly hit at Buc-ee’s is expected to survive after suffering non-life-threatening injuries.
Reid’s condition after shooting himself in the head was unclear as of midday Sunday, with officials saying he was hospitalized in critical condition. Police have not yet said what charges he will face if he survives.
