A man sexually abused a young girl over six years, police in McLennan County, Texas, said.
The child’s mother took the side of Andrew Richard Aubry, 37, according to the arrest affidavit obtained by The Waco Tribune-Herald and CBS affiliate KWTX, allegedly saying he was “an idiot, immature and inappropriate, but not a sexual predator.”
The abuse claims landed on law enforcement radar when the girl, 11, told school counselors on Nov. 17. She said it started when she was age 5. According to officers, she described multiple instances of abuse.
She said it happened while the mother was at work or away from home, documents reportedly said. For example, Aubry would allegedly enter the home “stumbling” after drinking a lot and then sexually assaulting the child. Feeling unsafe at home, she stayed in her room most of the time to avoid him, the girl said in documents.
Documents said she told police that her daughter was lying to leave home and move in with her grandparents. Aubry, who did not have a job in five years, would stay at home to take care of her children, she said. KWTX cited court records showing Aubry works for UPS.
The suspect allegedly declined to speak to investigators, citing advice from an attorney. He was locked up at the McLennan County Jail on a $75,000 bond.
