VALLEJO, Calif. (TCN) —Â A 68-year-old man convicted of killing a 13-year-old girl nearly five decades ago was recently arrested on suspicion of possessing child sexual abuse material.
On May 22, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office served a search warrant at a home in reference to an investigation into child porn. Deputies located evidence and seized multiple electronic devices confirming that Marvin Mutch allegedly had child sexual abuse material, narcotics, and a loaded firearm.
Mutch was arrested and booked into the Solano County Jail on charges of possession of child porn, convicted felon in possession of a firearm, convicted felon in possession of ammunition, possession of a firearm by a convicted violent felon, and possession of a controlled substance while armed.
According to SFGate, Mutch, who had previously been convicted of murder, was 18 when authorities initially arrested him in connection with 13-year-old Cassie Riley’s death. Riley had left her home on Sept. 24, 1974, to go to a market. She reportedly failed to returned home, and her father discovered her body in a creek bed. SFGate reports that Riley had been beaten, and she was held underwater until she died.
Mutch served 41 years behind bars and was granted parole in 2016. Mutch maintained his innocence but had reportedly been denied parole multiple times before his release.
