Manhunt On for Colorado Woman Accused of Killing 2 of Her Children, Staged as a Burglary – Crime Online

The FBI is assisting Colorado police that they search for a Colorado Springs mother accused of killing her 9-year-old daughter and 7-year-old son and staging it to look like a burglary.

Colorado Springs Police said they responded to a call about a burglary at the home of Kimberlee Singler, 35, on December 19 and found the boy and girl dead and a third child, an 11-year-old girl, injured. Singler was also injured.

“Singler and her 11-year-old daughter were treated for their injuries on the scene by the Colorado Springs Fire Department and American Medical Response prior to being transported to local hospitals for further medical treatment,” Colorado Springs Police said in a statement.

As the investigation continued, detectives “determined the initial report of a burglary was unfounded,” and on December 26, they obtained an arrest warrant charging Singler with two counts of first degree murder, attempted first degree murder, three counts of child abuse, and assault. The court set a $10 million bond and sealed the contents of the warrant.

But by that time, Singler was no where to be found. She was last seen on December 23.

KRDO reported that there had been a “domestic relations” case between Singler and the children’s father, Kevin Wents, and that Singler had been ordered to bring the children to Wentz on December 16, citing an attorney for Wentz, Jennifer Darby.

Singler did not do so, Darby said, and an emergency order was issued requiring her to “bring the children to Larimer County Court on December 20th, and the kids were killed on the 19th.”

Darby also said that Wentz and his family  “are currently in a tremendous amount of grief and shock” and “will comment on the investigation at a later date.”

CSPD’s Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force is leading the hunt for Singler, KRDO said, and the FBI is assisting. According to KXRM, investigators believe Singler has left the Colorado Springs area.
