Manhunt Underway After Gunman Shoots Georgia Officer in Face – Crime Online

A Georgia officer is in critical condition after being shot, and law enforcement is searching for the suspected gunman.

WSB-TV reported that late Friday evening, Captain Brantley Worley was airlifted to a hospital in Chattanooga after being shot.

Worley responded to a call on 1st Street for a suspicious person. Upon the officers’ arrival, reportedly, suspect Timothy Craig Ramsey, 26, opened fire.

A shot is said to have struck Worley in the face.

Police did try to apprehend Ramsey, where he is said to be living, but after a SWAT standoff at the home, it was discovered he was not there.

Worley, a 3-year veteran of the department, is listed in critical condition and reportedly suffered a broken neck and a brain bleed. He is married with a young son, according to WSB-TV.

“Captain Worley is a dedicated officer who has faithfully served this community, and we are asking everyone to keep him, his family, and our department in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time,” McCaysville Chief of Police Michael Otis Earley wrote on social media.

Early lists Ramsey’s description as a white male standing 5 feet, 11 inches tall and weighing approximately 185 pounds. Ramsey has blue eyes, and at the time of the assault, he had long hair.

He was last seen leaving on foot from the 1st Street area in McCaysville. Ramsey was wearing a green top, dark-colored pants, and a dark motorcycle helmet.

If you see Ramsey, call 911 and do not approach him. He is considered to be armed and dangerous.

Georgia Governor Brian Kemp, in a statement posted on X, encouraged Georgians to pray for Worley.

“Marty, the girls, and I are asking all Georgians to join us in praying for this officer who was shot in the line of duty, as well as all law enforcement who face this kind of danger on a regular basis to protect their communities.”
