After roughly ten months of dating, new Vanderpump Rules cast member Marcus Johnson was having major doubts about his relationship with Kim Suarez.

On the heels of Marcus and Kim’s intense argument involving his friendship with SUR bartender Natalie Maguire that ignited during the Season 12 premiere, the trio all came face to face at hostess Audrey Lingle’s rooftop birthday bash at the end of Episode 2.

As Kim, Natalie, Demy Selem, and Venus Binkley were unpacking the drama, Marcus joined them and entered the chat. After he insisted that it was Natalie, not him, who characterized their bond as being “like brother and sister,” Venus accused him of “lying.” Natalie, meanwhile, claimed that Marcus had “said it multiple times.” In the interim, Marcus got up and walked away from the group.

Citing the recent deaths of both of his parents in a confessional, Marcus explained to a producer, “Every single day, I’m waking up just looking for a little bit of happiness. For me to sit here and pretend like I even give a s–t what they’re talking about, I don’t. And Kimberly should know that.”

Back at the party, Marcus went on to make a shocking declaration about Kim to SUR DJ Mckenna, saying three times, “I’m falling out of love.” When Mckenna asked him for “the reasoning,” Marcus said, “Because she’s not the girl I thought she was.”

Kim, meanwhile, was standing within earshot and turned to tell Marcus, “I can hear everything you’re saying, just so you know.” Then, she walked away in tears, to find Natalie.

“We can be at our worst, and I will always show up for him to make sure he feels supported and, like, loved,” Kim tearfully vented, before bringing up how Marcus said he’d “fallen out of love” with her.

She cried again when she later discussed the situation in a confessional. “Hearing Marcus say that he was falling out of love with me was probably, like, one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to hear,” she shared. “Given how much of myself I’ve put aside for him all those months, for me, it feels like this is the moment where I just have to give up.”

Marcus Johnson and Kim Suarez’s relationship issues, explained

Kim admitted to a producer in Vanderpump Rules‘ Dec. 9 episode that she and Marcus “have had a lot of ups and downs” throughout their relationship. From her perspective, Marcus’ “go-to” move when they fight is to break up with her.

“It’s like a Ross and Rachel breakup, where you’re not actually broken up,” she explained, referencing the sitcom Friends. “Like, you can’t sleep with anybody else. But we’re broken up, and we’re not speaking for a few days.”

In a separate confessional, she added, “Marcus can be so unpredictable after we have a fight. A couple [of] days later, he can be like, ‘Hey, babe,’ or he can just not want to talk to me at all and hate my guts. It’s like once his mom passed, Marcus was no longer himself.”

Marcus, meanwhile, recapped their most recent argument about Natalie for his brother Aaron, who asked if he was making Kim “feel secure enough” in their relationship.

“I think I’m doing a great job,” Marcus answered. “We still have sex all the time. It’s really great. I am in love with her, but I would rather be peaceful and steady than in love, living my life like a goddamn maniac.”

Later, he also explained to some of his friends how, whenever his and Kim’s conflicts escalate, “there’s no stopping her.” In a confessional, he added, “When me and Kimberly fight, I would say that, ya know, she’s a lot like a werewolf. You know, when the sun goes down, and the moon comes out, she turns into, you know, Michael Jackson from the “Thriller” video.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Marcus also shared with Lisa Vanderpump that Kim “just can’t understand” his grief, following the recent losses of both his mom and dad.

“I try to tell her, you know, that there are certain things that you’re gonna want out of me as a boyfriend that I’m not gonna be capable to give you right now,” he told LVP. “I’m just trying to be a normal person myself.”
