An Alabama teacher is facing charges after police say she had a sexual relationship with a student.
According to court documents, 32-year-old Makaela Caldwell Hodgins is accused of having sex with a student while teaching at Randolph County High School in Wedowee.
She pleaded not guilty after a grand jury indictment. Court records did not specify the male victim’s age.
According to a Facebook post by Randolph County High School, Hodgins was a cheerleader at the University of West Alabama. She reportedly obtained a Master of Education and got married.
“She has been involved in many aspects of coaching cheer for the past ten years through judging try-outs, conducting cheer camps, and choreographing routines,” the post read.
