Marshalls Customer Buys Knives, Stabs Other Shopper for Taking Too Long in Checkout Line – Crime Online

A woman was stabbed at a Marshalls on Saturday when a dispute about waiting in a checkout line turned violent, New Jersey officials said.

Police who were called to a Marshalls in Kearny found the bloodied victim with superficial injuries in the store’s parking lot. The Observer reported that officers located the suspect, Amber Thompson, 25, in the store’s bathroom — where a kitchen knife was discovered on a baby changing station.

An investigation determined that a disagreement about the speed of the checkout line led to Saturday’s stabbing. Thompson allegedly threatened to injure the victim outside. The victim and her family left the store and headed to their car before Thompson purchased a set of knives, took one out of the box, and followed the victim, according to The Observer.

The victim suffered non-life-threatening puncture wounds to the torso. Thompson is believed to have fled back into the Marshalls after the stabbing, NJ 101.5 reported.

Thompson is charged with aggravated assault, unlawful possession of weapons, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and endangering another person. She remains jailed pending a court hearing.
