In a new preview for Part 2 of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City Season 6 reunion (airing Tuesday, Jan. 20), Mary Cosby tearfully shares an update about her son Robert Cosby Jr., who is currently incarcerated amid his ongoing sobriety journey.
To start, Mary explains that Robert Jr. was arrested for allegedly violating a restraining order after visiting his estranged wife. “[Her family] filed a restraining order against him, and he went back anyway, thinking that she wants him to come back and save her. I don’t know where he’s getting that from … delusional,” Mary says.
As reunion host Andy Cohen points out, Robert Jr. is currently awaiting a sentencing hearing scheduled for February 2026.
“I’m not worried about him,” a visibly emotional Mary adds. “I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decisions, and unfortunately, he’s learning the hard way. But I’m OK with it.”
“It’s just, you don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good,” Mary continues. “And I’d rather him be there than dead, you know?”
Mary Cosby shares an update on son Robert Jr.’s life in jail
Mary goes on to share in the reunion preview that while she doesn’t plan to visit Robert Jr. during his incarceration, the two maintain phone contact daily. “I can’t go to the jail, Andy. That’s a little weird. I don’t want to look at my child behind a glass,” she explains. “He calls me every day. I’m basically preaching to him. I’m like, ‘You’re going through this, but you have to realize that God is allowing it, and if God allowed it, then it’s for your good. This will help you to change, and you gotta change.’”

“I’m not in that dark place, but, like, it’s still there, if that makes sense,” he explained. “I just didn’t expect it to be like this. … You have to change who you are as a person. Like, you’re so used to doing something you do every day, and it’s a ritual. And then, you just come back home to where you used to do that ritual, and you’re not doing it anymore.”
On Episode 10, Mary was “crushed” upon discovering that Robert Jr. relapsed, forcing him to miss the reopening of her church.
