A 58-year-old Maryland man was arrested on Saturday after he pointed a gun through a window at a group of 12-year-old Christmas carolers who knocked at his door.
Paul Brian Susie was charged with assault and other charges related to the incident, Anne Arundel County Police said. They recovered the .40 caliber Glock handgun he used.
According to WTOP, the group of three girls was going door to door in the neighborhood singing Christmas carols at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. Charging documents say the girls knocked at Susie’s door, announcing they were singing carols. But instead of acknowledging holiday cheer, Susie came to the bay window next to the door and pointed a gun at them.
The charging documents says the front stoop was well lit, meaning he had no trouble seeing that he was pointing a gun at three young girls.
WUSA reported that the mother of one of the girls called police after her daughter and friends told her what happened.
When police arrived, Susie admitted what he did and said he’d had at least one alcoholic drink. Police recovered the Glock from Susie’s gun safe; he had a legal permit for the weapon, which they said was loaded.
In addition to assault, Susie was charged with handling a weapon while under the influence.
