The cracks in Mercedeh Javid and Tommy Feight’s marriage began to appear on The Valley: Persian Style, before the couple announced their split.
In a preview clip from Season 1, Episode 2 (airing Thursday, Jan. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT), Mercedeh and Tommy are enjoying a date night when the topic of conversation turns to their castmates’ marriages. When Mercedeh reveals that some of the other husbands and wives “have separate bedrooms,” Tommy tells her that it would be “very difficult” for him to sleep without her next to him.
His admission loses any possible romantic undertones, however, when he goes on to point out that Mercedeh snores — and plays her some video evidence to prove his point — before joking, “It’s like sleeping next to a dump truck driving through a nitroglycerin plant.”

Mercedeh’s response? “Today’s not the day. It’s date night, and I would appreciate [it if] you don’t make those jokes.”
She further expresses doubts about their relationship as she elaborates in a confessional, “Tommy is always making fun, I think a little too much. …Â I don’t think he’s aware that it can be hurtful. I love him enough, but is love enough?”
Tommy Feight defends “teasing” Mercedeh Javid
Tommy, for his part, explains to a producer, “I think that teasing is definitely a way that I show love.”
Back at their dinner, however, Mercedeh references their six-year-old son, asking Tommy, “Don’t you think that Shams hears the way that you crack jokes at me?”
He answers, “Yeah, he’s got a great sense of humor … and none of it’s ever malicious, you know what I mean?”
Either way, Mercedeh points out that Shams has been “mimicking” Tommy’s “teasing,” as a pair of flashback clips roll, showing her husband cracking up while their young son makes jokes about his mom.

The first look at The Valley: Persian Style‘s series premiere provided even more insight into Mercedeh and Tommy’s family life at the time.
“We’ve been married seven years,” Tommy says in a joint confessional, before adding, “Sometimes it feels like 700, um, in the best way.”
Mercedeh, for her part, notes that Tommy’s New Year’s resolution was for them to have 17 date nights in 2025, but at that point, they’d only gone out together three times total.
“When you have kids, we stop prioritizing that romantic, whimsical thing [and] just, like, stay at home and pig out and, like, fall asleep in front of the TV,” she adds in a solo interview setup. “It’s very Al Bundy of him. And I also don’t want to be Peggy Bundy. I will not stick around for that.”
What to expect from Mercedeh Javid and Tommy Feight on The Valley: Persian Style Season 1
According to their official cast bios for Season 1, “After their fairytale wedding, life moved fast for Mercedeh Javid and Tommy Feight. Thrust into parenthood and now navigating partnership under a busy roof, they struggle to salvage their marriage as the pressures of family, career, and loyalty threaten to tear them apart.”
The trailer for The Valley: Persian Style further previews the trouble ahead for the now-estranged couple.
After Mercedeh confesses in voiceover, “I just don’t feel happy,” her mom, Vida, warns her, “You cannot teach an old monkey a new trick.”
Separately, Vida informs Tommy, “She’s not happy,” prompting him to cryptically reply, “Then she should get divorced.”
Indeed, Mercedeh and Tommy eventually filed for divorce in October 2025 after seven years of marriage.
