Mercedeh Javid is sharing new details about why she decided to file for divorce from her estranged husband, Tommy Feight, after seven years of marriage.

The Valley: Persian Style cast member spoke with The Daily Dish in January, where she admitted that the divorce was a move out of “self-preservation.” Not only this, but it was a decision for her to prioritize herself and their 6-year-old son, Shams Francis Feight.
“Well, filing was a choice out of self-preservation and self-worth, that’s what that move was,” she explained. “You can choose that and love someone at the same time and prioritize your baby boy, which we’re both doing really well. I’m really impressed with how well we’re holding it down in this new chapter.”
Mercedeh also appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen on Thursday, Jan. 8, where she admitted that she still loves Tommy. “I didn’t leave the marriage because I stopped loving him,” she noted. “I love him, and he’s the love of my life.”
But, she admitted that there was a “specific moment” where she knew her relationship was over. “I felt like on the 4th of July I might have hit my last straw,” she added.

Mercedeh filed for divorce from Tommy on Oct. 20, 2025. She then broke her silence about the divorce shortly after on Nov. 7, during an appearance on the SiriusXM radio show, Jeff Lewis Live. “I don’t have any regret or doubt,” she said of the filing.

The Valley: Persian Style parents, Mercedeh and Tommy, share one child, Shams Francis Feight, together. Shams was born on April 17, 2019, with the parents choosing to name him after Mercedeh’s later father, Shams Javid, and Tommy’s late mother.

Mercedeh has stated that she and Tommy are doing everything to co-parent their son. During her appearance on WWHL, Mercedeh admitted that co-parenting is going “really well.” “Shams is our number one priority,” she explained.
During a Nov. 29 episode of her podcast, Till the Dirt, Mercedeh said that it’s been hard for her to watch Shams go between two houses. “It has been hard because I’m afraid of the future, of what Shams is thinking and feeling,” she said. “So I’m hoping that will be, you know, when he’s able to talk to somebody at school, counselor or otherwise, and maybe he’ll express a little bit to family.”
Tommy Feight opens up about co-parenting their child with Mercedeh Javid
Tommy took to Till the Dirt on Dec. 15, where he revealed that he refuses to have Shams see him “down” because of the divorce. But, he is afraid of Shams growing up in a broken household, just like he did.
“Going through this I’m like, ‘Oh man, I’m a big failure dude,'” he said during the episode. “[Shams] is gonna go through the same f–kin’ thing I went through. I don’t want him turning out like me. It’s difficult. I just like having him close. It’s so hard, especially these last couple of weeks, as the new normal becomes normal.”
Where does Mercedeh Javid live?
Mercedeh confirmed with The Daily Dish in January that both she and Tommy are living separately amid their divorce. But, their houses are still really close to one another. “We’re in a cul-de-sac very close to each other, so it is like very new beginnings,” she said. “Like, on the mornings that I wake up alone, I feel like I am 19 years old in my 19 year old condo, which is wild and cool cause it makes me feel like I’m young again, and then there is something really invigorating about having a space that’s totally yours.”

She continued, sharing a description of the house. “It’s like one of those things where it’s very beautiful, and white and has high ceilings, which I love,” she noted. “I have a lot of natural light, that’s the realtor in me talking.”

Mercedeh’s mom, Vida, has always had an up-and-down relationship with Tommy. And during The Valley: Persian Style Season 1, Episode 1, Vida confronted Tommy, noting that Mercedeh wasn’t happy in her relationship with him.
“[Mercedeh] told me she’s not [happy] because she doesn’t feel safe in this marriage,” Vida said. “And you should spend more quality time together…You have to do something to improve your relationship.”
But Tommy admitted that he didn’t know what to do in their relationship. “What can we do?” he asked Vida. “We’ve been together for 10 years. What are we gonna improve on?…I’m not gonna have someone tell me that I need to change.”

Mercedeh and Tommy got married in front of their friends and family members on April 21, 2018, in Los Angeles. Mercedeh and Tommy’s wedding took place on the rooftop of The Jeremy West Hollywood Hotel (now the 1 Hotel West Hollywood) in Los Angeles.
Mercedeh’s BFF, Reza Farahan, served as her “man of honor” while her dog served as their ring bearer. Mercedeh chose to wear a custom mermaid-style gown designed by Pedram Couture, complete with mesh, embroidery, and a custom veil embroidered with her dad’s name on it. Plus, the wedding was documented for Shahs of Sunset viewers during the Shahs of Sunset Season 7 finale.

“Tommy was beaming with happiness,” Mercedeh told The Daily Dish of the wedding at the time. “It was like the sparks of the Fourth of July coming out of his face, and that to me, was the ultimate, that was the ultimate goal of the wedding day.”
Is Mercedeh Javid dating anyone amid her divorce from Tommy Feight?
Mercedeh admitted to The Daily Dish that she is not dating anyone while navigating her divorce from Tommy. “It’s extremely raw and very new everything that has happened, but I just can’t — I think I’m going to be a celibate monk or wait until Shams is 35,” she said.
